Protecting Animals in Kurdistan Organisation
PAKO works to protect stray animals across Kurdistan, provide emergency care for any animal in need, and educate communities — especially children — about animal welfare and animal rights.
Who we are
PAKO — Protecting Animals in Kurdistan Organisation — is a non-profit NGO that works to rescue stray animals and raise awareness about animal welfare and animal rights across the Kurdistan region.
Founded by veterinarians Dr. Lavin and Dr. Jutyar, our team responds to emergencies, treats animals in need, finds homes for the rescued, and works to change the way our community sees and treats animals — starting with the next generation.
Our TeamOur work
Emergency Care
We respond to any animal in need of urgent medical attention — stray dogs and cats, injured wildlife, abandoned pets, farm animals. If they need help, we come.
School Education
We run presentations and seminars in schools across Kurdistan, teaching children compassion, responsibility, and animal welfare — the foundation of a more humane society.
Adoption Program
We work to find loving permanent homes for rescued animals, vetting families to make sure every adoption is a forever match.
Lost & Found
Our platform helps reunite lost pets with their families and gives a voice to animals found in the streets.
How you can help
Every action matters — from sharing a post to opening your home to a rescued animal.
